Background

• Cogan’s syndrome (CS) is a rare, systemic autoimmune disorder with
ocular and auditory manifestations
• Classic form includes:
• Non-syphilitic interstitial keratitis (IK)
• Sensorineural hearing loss with vestibular symptoms resembling
Ménière's disease
• Atypical form includes:
• Broader ocular inflammation and auditory disturbances
• Absence of IK
• Time interval of more than two years between ocular and auditory
symptoms
• The exact cause remains unknown, but may be an autoimmune etiology
