Description

Background

Addressing the gap in connecting unhoused and housing-insecure individuals with community
resources is crucial, as these resources are often underutilized due to a lack of awareness. A
centralized resource directory can bridge this gap, as demonstrated by studies highlighting the
importance of addressing unmet social needs such as access to healthcare, food, and utilities,
which are linked to chronic health issues. Furthermore, a robust system for linking patients to
community resources necessitates accurate and timely information sharing supported by a
centralized directory. Despite their public status, accessing resources can be difficult. The
objective of this study is to evaluate whether a quick, focused instructional intervention could
improve third-year osteopathic medical students' comfort in using FindHelp.org in clinical
settings. We hypothesize that our training will greatly improve students' confidence in their
ability to connect patients with available services, streamline access, and personalize support
based on patients' needs.
