Repository

Description

Abstract

• LGBTQIA+ individuals have historically experienced social, cultural, and political marginalization¹,2
• In healthcare settings, patients frequently report:
• Stigma, bias, and judgment
• Resulting in reluctance to seek care3
• Sexual and gender minority (SGM) populations demonstrate:
• Lower rates of preventive screenings and wellness visits4
• Structural barriers further compound disparities:
• Socioeconomic disadvantage
• Limited access to care5
→ Together, these barriers highlight the need for more inclusive, patient-centered healthcare environments
• Current quality improvement efforts often focus on:
• Data collection
• Staff training6,7
• However, less attention has been given to clinic-level, patient-facing inclusivity

SMART-AIM

• Identify differences in baseline inclusivity practices
• Highlight key gaps in patient-facing environments and documentation
