Description
Abstract
California's Central Valley is among the most medically underserved regions of the United States, driven by high poverty rates, insurance gaps, provider shortages, cultural and language barriers, and environmental and occupational exposures. Fresno County has higher prevalence of chronic diseases. California Health Sciences University College of Osteopathic Medicine (CHSU-COM) integrates population health research and quality improvement projects. CHSU-COM partners students with regional community clinics via Physician's Role in the Health System (PRHS), a mandatory course in CHSU-COM's curriculum.
