Vaccine Education within the Punjabi-Speaking Population
Repository
Description
Background:
The current research on the effectiveness of a video medium on vaccine education is intriguing. Williams compared the video and two handouts regarding the common vaccine concerns and how to obtain medically accurate information.
Vaccine education is an area of study that has received much attention in the past few years. Unfortunately, the plethora of information on vaccine education does not as easily extend to Punjabi patients.
While vaccine education improves overall knowledge, there remains a gap in educating the Punjabi community on the importance of vaccines.
Thus, my research will expand the current research scope to a group of patients that often is not studied by providing vaccine educational material in the format of a video.
Our research question states: Is there a relationship between basic vaccine knowledge in the Punjabi population before and after an educational video?
SMART Aim: By May 2023, 30% (N=50) of the Punjabi parents of infants and adolescents at Fresno County will have increased their knowledge of vaccines.
