Description
Abstract:
A literature review was performed which found that many patients with cervixes face financial, cultural, and language barriers when accessing cervical cancer screenings1. The most significant concerns reported by patients regarding access to cervical cancer screenings are often cost related2. Women born outside the United States were twice as likely to have never received a pap smear3.It has been suggested there is a negative correlation between limited English proficiency and obtaining cervical cancer screenings4. EMR data was gathered on patient demographics to establish which of the barriers discovered through literature review may be affecting their care. SMART AIM: By April 2024, identify the barriers faced by patients with cervixes in a FQHC in the Central Valley when receiving pap smears via analysis of electronic medical records (EMR).
